In ancient times, it’s difficult to enjoy seafood in inland region due to undeveloped transportation. Yamanashi residents have thought of a way to let them taste the most delicious abalone.
「煮貝」At Shizuoka Suruga Bay seaside, the abalones are caught, washed, stewed, then soaked in a sauce added with soy sauce and be taken home. On the way home, the abalone was aged with delicious taste. This method becomes popularized in Yamanashi, and even become a local specialty.
